My Bio
Professional Fine Artist (34 years), former Arts Ambassador, US State Dept. Contributing Editor, Film Director. Four decade+ practitioner of Tibetan Dream Yoga. Apprenticed 4 years with California Visionary Landscape Painter, Gage Taylor (1983-1987). Later she collaborated with him under the name Taylor-Dana until his death in 2000. Uriél has traveled 44 countries and lived on 3 continents so she has added skills to her art from many sources. This includes studying color and design at Rudolph Schaeffer School of Design (1975/76) San Francisco, CA and lost wax bronze casting at College of Marin (1983-1987), Kentfield, CA as well as many workshops in classical art techniques, including Day Studio Workshop (1983) in San Francisco, Ca. and conservation techniques in Genova, Italy.(2004) the year it was chosen as Head of Culture for the EU.
My paintings are inspired by San Francisco’s nouveau cirque culture. These are not just people in costume but a rich array of human talents that incorporate theater, literature, aerobics, dance, poetry and above all, mystery. Humor and whimsy are also added to brighten the mood for what many consider dark times. For over three decades I have been known as a surrealist painter. I have also been a practitioner of Tibetan Dream Yoga since childhood as a way to control a sleeping disorder. Surrealism is defined as the mixture of two realities not normally found side by side.
